Manasije Mishra
Chief Executive Officer

Manasije Mishra joined Max Bupa as CEO from May 1, 2012 .Prior to his appointment with Max Bupa, Manasije Mishra was the Managing Director and CEO of HSBC Invest Direct where he successfully integrated the newly acquired company, IL&FS Investmart, with the HSBC Group. His previous assignments were Head of Strategy and Business Development, and Global Head of Non Resident Indian Services.

He joined the HSBC Group in 1989 and has extensive domestic and international experience in Retail Banking, Operations, E-commerce, Trade Finance, Treasury and Financial Control. He was also a trainer at HSBC’s management training centre in the UK.

After completing a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Hansraj College, Delhi University, he went on to do a Masters in Business Administration from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, UK. Manasije has been a member of the Foreign Exchange Dealers' Association of India's (FEDAI) working group on NRI remittances. He also served as the chairman of the UCP 500 Expert Group of the International Chamber of Commerce, India.

Neeraj Basur
Chief Finance Officer

Neeraj is a Chartered Accountant and a Company Secretary. He brings with him over 18 years of experience from diverse industries like Manufacturing, Telecom, Software Technology, Insurance and Healthcare.

Neeraj has been associated with the Max group since 2002. In his previous assignment as a Senior Vice President- Corporate Finance with Max India, he has handled an entire gamut of Finance activities for all diverse Max group companies. Neeraj has been with Max Bupa since its inception and played a crucial role in preparing Max Bupa’s strategic and financial road map as well as framing the investment framework and setting up of the systems, policies and standards for accounting and risk management. He is also closely involved with the product pricing and actuarial management.

On the personal front Neeraj is married and has two sons. In his leisure time he likes to travel to places where he can be close to nature, read and spend time with his children.

Gagan Bhalla
Director-Development and Strategy

Gagan joined Max Bupa as Director-Development and Strategy in May 2012. In this role, his focus will be on developing business strategy, and spearheading the Information Technology, Healthcare Purchasing, and Corporate Initiatives functions. Gagan comes to Max Bupa with a rich experience in international health insurance, and the healthcare sector in general. Before Max Bupa, Gagan most recently worked at Aetna, a leading global Health Insurance company as Managing Director, Corporate Strategy and Corporate Development. In this role, he worked closely with Aetna’s Executive Leadership Team to develop Aetna’s long-term strategy, support key M&A activities, and incubate new businesses within the US and globally. Prior to Aetna, Gagan was a Principal in Accenture’s Healthcare Strategy practice in New York where he served leading clients in Managed Care, Provider Systems, and Life Sciences. Gagan brings a deep domain expertise in Health insurance across strategy and M&A, sales and marketing, business operations, product development, provider relationship, and regulatory interaction. A seasoned professional with more than 14 years of experience, Gagan has worked across markets, specifically within the US, UK, France, Germany and Indian healthcare markets, and this globally informed expertise in healthcare and insurance will help strength of Max Bupa as it continues to grow rapidly.

Gagan is married to Deepti, has 2 daughters, and is a US citizen. He is a passionate golfer and an avid squash player. Gagan holds an MBA from INSEAD/Wharton (UPenn), an MS from Vanderbilt University, and a BTech from IIT Bombay.

Birender Ahluwalia
Director-Sales and Distribution

Birender joined Max Bupa as Director – Sales and Distribution in July 2011. With experience spanning over two decades, he brings with him an expertise of marketing, sales, service and start up know how.

Prior to joining Max Bupa, Birender spearheaded the sales and services division at Tata Sky for seven years. He has been closely associated with bringing a turnaround in the landscape of Indian DTH industry. He has also been a core member of the marketing team at FedEx, where he made a significant contribution to building the business for key countries.

Birender has a master’s degree in management from Mumbai University.

Sevantika Bhandari
Director-Marketing

Sevantika joined Max Bupa in September 2012 as Director –Marketing. A seasoned marketer with expertise in the financial domain, Sevantika has over 12 years of experience in Brand Management, Product Strategy and International Marketing, Online Marketing and Customer Relationship Management. Prior to joining Max Bupa, she was associated with ICICI Bank for over 9 years where she was leading critical portfolios like NRI Product and Marketing for Indian & International markets and handling diverse teams of product and brand managers. Sevantika’s first marketing assignment was with Dabur where she was responsible for managing the Baby Care division of the brand. Sevantika is a post graduate from Management Development Institute. She pursued her bachelor’s in Economics Honours from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University. Sevantika has a keen interest in pottery and she is an avid traveler and theatre enthusiast.

Somesh Chandra
Director- Customer Services, Operations and Technology

A BE degree holder from R.V.C.E- Bangalore, Somesh is also a certified Project Management professional. He brings with him a rich experience of over 15 years. He joins us from Religare Corporate Services Ltd., where he was designated as Director & Head of Operations and Technology strategy and Shared Services. He was instrumental in setting up their shared services organization, providing back office and customer services support to the Religare health Insurance, Retail broking and lending businesses. Over the last fifteen years, Somesh has had a rich and varied mix of management consulting, IT and Operations experience spanning over his roles with Religare Corporate Services, McKinsey, Computer Sciences Corporation and Tata Consultancy Services. In his role at McKinsey, Somesh was one of their key leaders in the Outsourcing & Offshoring practice in India specializing in the technology space. He worked closely with NASSCOM, many of the Indian & Global technology companies and multiple banks across geographies on outsourcing, growth, technology strategy and operations excellence. At CSC, Somesh was part of the Financial Services Group and was managing its largest general insurance account. Before that he was leading the Healthcare product development group in India. At TCS, Somesh was part of the Banking & Financial Services group. He was one of the founding members of its largest custody banking product offering called NCS. In his current role at Max Bupa, Somesh will be managing the Customer Services, Operations and IT functions. On the personal front, Somesh is married to Smriti and they are blessed with two sons Suvigya and Aarnesh. Somesh’s hobbies Music and Traveling.
