The physical signs of ageing are results, more of our lifestyle choices than of the calendar years. The field of ageing research has proved that a healthier lifestyle can help us age backwards and bring the vitality of youth to a large extent.

The best part is it is never too late. We can always strive to become our better version.

Following are a few tips to reverse the ageing process - to not just look good but also be functionally stronger as well.

Exercise: Exercise is the most important factor in reversing the age. Exercise isn’t just about dropping kilos or becoming an athlete. Numerous studies have shown that regular exercise can cause the skins aging process to reverse, even if one starts exercising later in life.

Exercise changes the way our body works at the cellular level. It reflects physiological and psychological transformation.

There are 3 categories of exercise:

  1. Cardio
  2. Strength training
  3. Flexibility

One should look at a mix of all three to reap greater rewards

What can exercise do?

  1. Make assimilation of nutrients efficient
  2. Improve hormonal response
  3. Improve sleep quality
  4. Reduce anxiety
  5. Strengthen the respiration functionality
  6. Increase blood volume & circulation
  7. Build immunity to ward of infections
  8. Improved repairing and healing capabilities
  9. Make our bones and joints stronger

All these lead to reversing of the ageing process.

Good nutrition: The way a war cannot be won without ammunition, the body cannot become healthier without good nutrition. Good nutrition means real foods that are nutrient dense.

Anti-oxidants from nutrient dense foods fight free radicals, which are in abundance around us. Free radicals damage our body and reflect early ageing.

Nutrient dense foods help produce collagen, which strengthens the joints and improves skin elasticity. Degradation of collagens gives wrinkles – the sign of ageing.

Meditation:Chronic stress shortens the lifespan of cells in the body and increases the ageing process. Mediation has proved to have benefits on the human mind and body. It reduces anxiety and stress. 5 minutes of meditation can bring the required calming effects, free the mind and bring vitality in the body.

Sleep:Lack of sleep doubles the signs of ageing. Sleep deprivation increases the cortisol levels, which are stress hormones and stress shortens the life. So try to clock 7-8 hours of good night sleep.

Hydration:Our body is approximately 60% water, hence water is the most important nutrient for our body. Water is the medium for every biochemical action that takes place in our body. Good hydration improves the skin texture.
